Hi everyone!
It's been a while. Here's my latest personal project, started as a portrait practice, got caught along the process and decided to push it further into a final piece. My main goal for this piece was to learn how to render in Arnold and I must say I fell in love with it, even if the rendering time is painful.
I used as refference a photo of Isaac Plowright from a shoot for Infringe Magazine(https://www.infringe.com/cult-hair-isaac/), great website for refferences btw. I wasn't intending to do a likeness, yet I got carried away along the process and I ended up recreating the photography a bit too much, I changed some things here and there to match my initial idea though.
The process was pretty straight forward, sculpted in Zbrush and textured in Substance Painter. Big shoutout to James Busby from 3D Scan Store(https://www.artstation.com/ten_24), I used his latest HD Displacements maps which are amazing, I really recommend them. Various things were done in Maya, bakes in Marmoset Toolbag, hair was created in Xgen and rendered in Arnold with a bit of post-processing in Photoshop.
Thanks to my friend Bogdan Doru for providing me feedbacks on presentation ! https://www.artstation.com/sublime
Hope you like it !!
